Yes we all get brain farts once in a while, so I wrote this post to help you access to your Kindle if you’re having problems remembering your security password.

Kindle Fire

After 4 failed attempts at entering your password, you’ll be asked to restore your Kindle to factory default settings.  Unfortunately, this will delete all content on your Kindle Fire and you’ll need to register it again before downloading items from your Amazon account.  You can then create a new password for your Kindle Fire.

Click on the picture above to get 20% off the purchase of any Kindle cover when your purchase a Kindle.  This special is only available for 2 more days.  If you still haven’t got a clue as to what to get Dad, this may be a deal to take advantage of.

To prevent others from using your Kindle or seeing your content, you can create a password that must be entered whenever your Kindle starts or wakes from sleep.  If you forget your password, try looking at the password hint you entered when you first created the password.

Follow these simple steps to create a password:

  1. If you’re not already on the Home screen, press the Home button.
  2. Press the Menu Button.
  3. Use the 5-way to underline “Settings” and press select.
  4. Use the 5-way to underline “turn on” next to the “Device Password” setting and press to select.
  5. Type in the password you want.  The maximum password length is 12 characters.
  6. Navigate down and type in your password again to confirm.
  7. Navigate down and type in a hint.  This hint can be displayed on the password entry screen to help you remember your password.
  8. Navigate down using the 5-way and select “submit”.

And that’s it!  Now you can safely protect your Kindle from your curious family members 😉
