Yes we all get brain farts once in a while, so I wrote this post to help you access to your Kindle if you’re having problems remembering your security password.

Kindle Fire

After 4 failed attempts at entering your password, you’ll be asked to restore your Kindle to factory default settings.  Unfortunately, this will delete all content on your Kindle Fire and you’ll need to register it again before downloading items from your Amazon account.  You can then create a new password for your Kindle Fire.

Kindle Touch

If you cannot remember the password for your Kindle Touch, you can restore the device to factory defaults to regain access.  This will delete all content on your Kindle Touch and you’ll need to register your device again before downloading items from Your Kindle Library.

To restore the device to factory defaults, enter 111222777.

Kindle Keyboard

Before you reset your password, remember to use the shift button  for uppercase letters, and use the Symbol key  to insert numbers and other characters.

To reset your Kindle Keyboard if you don’t have the password:

  1. Slide and release the power switch on the top of Kindle to turn on the device or exit sleep mode.
  2. Enter “resetmykindle” in the password field and press the enter key on the key pad.
  3. Wait several minutes while your Kindle restarts.

Most passwords are case sensitive. Press the Keyboard button and use the symbol keyboard menu to access characters or symbols.  Press the Keyboard button to close the onscreen keyboard.  Resetting your password will delete all content on your Kindle and you’ll need to register your Kindle again from the Settings screen before downloading items from your Kindle Library.

To reset your Kindle if you don’t have the password:

  1. Press and hold the power button to turn on the device or exit sleep mode.
  2. Enter “111333777” in the password field.  Press the Keyboard button to return to the password menu and select submit using the 5-way controller.
  3. Wait several minutes while your Kindle restarts.

Have a great week 🙂
